€ 1.000,00
Southwestern Moluccas, Indonesia, possibly Babar Islands, 20th century
Exceptional and rare large carved hardwood ancestor figure from the Southwestern Moluccas, possibly the Babar Islands. The elongated, highly stylised human figure is carved from a single piece of wood, with a striking upward-reaching crest, serene abstract facial features, articulated arms and legs, and beautifully weathered natural patina.
The figure is now presented on a custom-made black metal stand. Total height with stand: 177 cm.
