Rare 19th-century Dutch maritime drawing in pencil and charcoal, depicting Zr. Ms. Montrado, a Royal Netherlands Navy screw steamer, battling heavy seas in the Dutch East Indies, circa 1860. Dramatically rendered with exceptional detail in the rigging, vessel and stormy sea. Signed lower right, apparently “G. Slieker” (attribution not conclusively established).
