Executed in a beautiful ivory-white glazed faience, the sculpture perfectly captures the streamlined aesthetic of the French Art Deco movement, with its graceful proportions, elongated silhouette and refined modelling. The understated rectangular plinth enhances the modernist design.
The underside bears the printed Digoin Sarreguemines France factory mark together with the impressed model number 5140. This model is documented in the collection of the Musée de la Faïence de Sarreguemines as “Chien Lévrier GH – Grand Modèle”, created by Jean Georges Chrétien Herrmann. Chrétien Herrmann fils.
