Late 19th Century French Cast Iron Bust of Diana of Versailles (Artemis)
€ 1.475,00
An imposing and beautifully executed late 19th-century cast iron bust depicting Diana of Versailles (Artemis), the ancient Roman and Greek goddess of the hunt. Masterfully hollow-cast in heavy iron, this solid 19 kg sculpture beautifully captures her serene facial expression, signature wavy hair tied in a chignon, and classical draped robes.
What makes this piece truly exceptional is its completely original, untouched weathered patina.
Decades of exposure to the elements have created a rich, multi-layered texture of oxidized iron, mossy undertones, and historical charm that replica pieces simply cannot replicate. The hollow underside confirms its traditional sand-casting production from a prominent European foundry.
A highly versatile and sophisticated statement piece, perfectly suited for a neoclassical interior gallery, a sophisticated conservatory, or as a striking focal point in a formal garden landscape.
