Antique Marble Sculpture of a Seated Guanyin / Bodhisattva, Circa 1900
Beautifully carved marble sculpture depicting a seated Guanyin (the Bodhisattva of Compassion), dating to circa 1900. The figure is shown in a relaxed yet dignified pose upon a rocky throne, richly draped in flowing robes and adorned with delicate jewelry and an elaborate headdress. The serene facial expression and finely executed details lend the piece a timeless elegance.
Carved from solid marble, the sculpture displays a wonderful natural patina consistent with its age. Combining spiritual tranquility with a strong decorative presence, it makes an impressive statement piece in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Condition
Good antique condition, consistent with age and use. The head was detached at some point in the past and has been professionally restored.
